An honest review of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom

One of the most sought after experiences at Disney World is the magical princess makeover at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. A few months ago we were able to snag an appointment time and experience the magic ourselves with our 4 year old for the first time.

Today, I’m dishing a full look into this royal makeover process and providing some advice for booking your appointment. We have now experienced the boutique twice, and today I’m sharing my honest opinion and tips for the experience. As always, this is my completely honest review (and also we were not gifted this experience).

Hello Travel Blog Snapshot:

Pros:

  • Your own “fairy godmother” who leads you through the entire experience
  • 90 min, non rushed princess experience
  • Actual entrance into the back of the castle to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique Salon.
  • Multiple price points to choose from
  • You can bring your own dress (you don’t have to buy one)
  • Interactive experience that builds confidence for your little one and will most likely make you tear up
  • Photopass is included, we got soooo many professional looking pictures of the experience through the park’s photographer at the boutique

Cons:

  • Lowest package starts at $99.95, so it’s expensive as most Disney experiences are honestly
  • Hard to get in for an appointment even 60 days out if you’re not staying at a Disney resort
  • Sometimes they run out of certain included items such as “pixie dust” or nail polish
  • Park admission for Magic Kingdom is required for entry. You cannot simply book it any day without a valid park ticket
  • The Fairy godmother you get can greatly sway your experience. Our first experience was fantastic and we had two wonderful fairy godmothers who really cared to know my daughter. The second time I was not as impressed with the fairy godmothers assigned to us. I felt like they didn’t care to connect as much and were just going through the motions.

Our “Carriage Package” Experience

We chose the least expensive option and brought our own Mermaid Ariel dress and Moana dress, and it was honestly just as magical. The experience started off with being greeted in the lobby and presented the package options. We were then taken back by our own personal fairy godmother to our own dressing room.

Then the magic began, as we watched as Cinderella’s own fairy godmother appeared in the mirror of the dressing room. We had a moment to connect with our own personal fairy godmother who made my daughter feel comfortable and really got to know her. The first time we went we especially had a great connection with our fairy godmothers. The second time was not as great as far as who we were assigned to.

I then got her dressed and we went into the luxurious waiting area where all the dresses and accessories are located. She picked out what hair style she wanted, which included a tiny tiara and Mickey Mouse clip for the back of her hair. The second time she chose a flower headband and bun combination for her Moana look. Luckily, Ellie was already satisfied with her own dresses that we brought from home, so we just waited until they were ready to take us over to the actual castle for the makeover portion.

There are several princess dress options to choose from if you want to pick out a new dress at the boutique. However, I feel like that is a pricier option overall. It was nice to let her pick out a dress beforehand from Etsy and make sure that it fit beforehand. I feel like that took some stress out of the experience because she wasn’t overwhelmed with choosing a dress to wear during the boutique experience. She did pick out a Tinker Bell wand and we were able to purchase that separately.

Salon Princess Pampering Session

Next, they walked us across to the salon and pampering part of the experience, which is actually located in the back of the castle. This is an exciting transition as you are escorted from the boutique into the actual entrance of the back of the castle (right across from the entrance to Cinderella’s Royal Table restaurant). Then we were taken to our own salon chair where they did her hair in the most adorable princess style with a shimmer hairspray finish. They did her makeup with very light blush, eyeshadow and lip gloss.

They were very nice when she insisted on helping do the makeup herself, because she is quite particular. They also did her nails with a sparkle polish, which is included in this package if wanted. The finishing touches include a boutique sash, princess mouse ears and a keepsake T-shirt and backpack. They also sent us home with a little make up kit and some hair brushes! They take pictures throughout the experience, so if you don’t feel like going to take pictures afterward at the photo center, you’ll still walk away with plenty of pics.

Essential Tips & Tricks for getting into the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique:

If you really want to be able to get into this experience I would highly suggest following these tips:

  1. You’re able to book earlier if you are staying at a Disney resort. We just booked for our most recent April 2025 trip when we stayed at the Disney Contemporary Resort. There were multiple time slots open for the week we went. You need to book 60 days out at midnight the night before (whereas other park reservations are typically 6 am for 60 days out). Many people miss this midnight time slot, and I have to admit I didn’t know it was midnight until my latest booking.
  2. Keep checking for openings, as several people cancel or rearrange their trips at any given time. There were NO openings at 60 days out when I initially tried to book it (for our prior trip when we weren’t staying on a Disney property). I kept checking every day and finally got a slot for our last park day. It just happened to be pure luck. I just kept checking every day at random times and was able to get in!
  3. If you’re really having trouble getting in: sign up for the MagicTable or Mouse Watcher apps to get alerts sent to your phone when there are openings for a specific date. You can also join the Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1A1YVJyzne/?mibextid=wwXIfr for updates, drops and trades, etc.
  4. If you’re still not able to get in before your trip: Another tactic is simply walking up to the boutique when you are physically at the park that day and ask to see if they have any walk up spots open that day. Surprisingly, many have reported getting into the boutique this way.
