When I was first introduced to Getaway, I wasn’t sure it was my kind of vacation. What I quickly discovered was the serenity of nature that greeted me and gave me the chance to reconnect, relax and just breathe.
Getaway houses are unlike any experience I’ve had before, and most definitely the new, improved way to enjoy camping.

The campsite itself is tucked away in the rolling hills of Lisbon, Ohio. This was only about an hour away from our house in Akron — talk about a convenient getaway! The fall foliage greeted us as we drove down the driveway into the campsite and approached the main building. We then found our designated cabin and parking space so we could get settled in.

No need to check in— Getaway texted us a code to punch into our cabin door upon arrival! Talk about easy, and definitely is nice because you don’t have to take the time to check in at a front desk. We got right into our cabin and found it was clean, fresh and new. For being a small space, the cabin itself held quite a bit and felt very open and inviting. I was excited to cuddle up and unplug for two days.

There’s something so refreshing about disconnecting and taking a moment to absorb the beauty of the natural world around us. The fall foliage and beautiful forest was wrapped around our little cabin providing us with great views out of our large glass window.

About 50 feet away was another cabin, which made us feel a little safer that other people were nearby and close to us. It wasn’t like we were in the woods alone in case of an emergency, and we were only 5 minutes from the main road with our car and a clear exit path to leave.
