Being a positive force in a sea of negativity

There’s so much to be said about the importance of being kind, positive and supportive to each other. In a world full of horrific news, it seems like we are stuck in a sea of negativity most days. Today, I’m challenging you to be a positive force.

Each day we are bombarded with news notifications on our phones highlighting the deeply disturbing reality of our time. School shootings, bombings across the world, terror threats, political banter, meaningless celebrity drama — the list goes on and on.

Yet here we are wondering, where is the light in all this? Doesn’t there have to be true good that exists in this world?

Yes. There is— but it starts with you. Today, I’m challenging you to become a positive force.

As a writer, I always strive to describe the most important and positive aspects of whatever story I’m covering. I see others constantly in various fields of work doing their absolute best to find that positivity also, whether they are doctors, teachers, nurses, business owners, customer service providers or many other professions.

While you may feel small, insignificant and helpless in your day-to-day life, I encourage you to make those little actions that speak positively to others. Little gestures of kindness throughout your day, such as holding doors for others, asking strangers how they really are, and sharing a genuine laugh with someone can make a big difference.

You never know what’s going on in someone’s life, but you can make an impact. BE the light which you crave to see in this world. BE a force of happiness in this world of seemingly evil.

Because when you look at the amazing people in it, you’ll discover that maybe it’s not so bad after all.
